Sangay's story

Sangy is 35 years old and lives in Kakata Town, the capital city of Margibi County. She is divorced and has two children aged 16 and 20 years old. One is in college and the youngest one is in high school and they both live at home. She stopped her education at elementary school and for the past 16 years she has been running a shop where she sells clothes, hair, slippers, and lappa (traditional cloth). She started this business when she and her husband were living together. With the little money that she received from him she managed to establish her business. She learned this way of selling from her mother. She is very happy with her business because she makes a lot of profits and it keeps her busy. Most interestingly she learned those different kinds of local languages. She is requesting a loan to buy more clothes, hair, slippers, and lappa (traditional cloth) to expand her business. Her plan is to increase her business.
