Emelyn is 46 years-old and married with three children. She lives in Clarin, Misamis Occidental. She owns and operates a banana production in the local community in order to earn a living. She has been in her business for over five years and earns 45,000PHP every month. She has been a member of Kiva partner GDMPC since the year 2011, and now she has requested a loan of 55,000PHP in order to purchase additional seedlings and chemicals. She plans to use the additional revenue generated from the business to improve the general living conditions of her family.
Gata Daku Multi-Purpose Cooperative (GDMPC) was founded in 1992 by 32 farmer-members to empower people by providing livelihood opportunities and other support services. Today, it has over 15,000 members located in upland, lowland and coastal regions of the Philippines, and offers credit, savings, education, and various social services.
