A loan of $700 helped a member to buy different types of clothes to sell.

Zuena's Group's story

Zuena's group is comprised of 4 hard working women. Zuena is 24 years old and lives in the town of Kaliro in the Iganga region of Uganda. For the past 3 years, Zuena has been working hard to manage her small clothing business, which sells clothes.

To help expand her business, Zuena has requested a loan of 600,000 Ugandan Shillings from BRAC Uganda. The loan will be used to buy different types of clothes to sell, and will help Zuena to generate greater profits and pay school fees for her young siblings. Zuena hopes that in the future she will be able to buy a plot of land and build a house.

Zuena is a member of BRAC's Empowerment and Livelihood for Adolescents (ELA) program. In addition to microfinance loans, the program provides both a safe place for young Ugandan women to take part in group activities, and a forum for life-skills training.

In this group: Zuena, Jane, Zakia, Miria
