A loan of $50 helped to pay for 10 low-cost LED lights to resell to rural households without electricity.

Emmanuel's story

Emmanuel appreciates the support from Kiva and is making progress in paying his first loan of $100.00. He is now seeking for a top-up loan of $50 to purchase 10 more rechargeable LED lights, which he will resell to people without electricity in his village. Every week or so, these customers will return to him to have their lights recharged for just $0.20. Emmanuel started selling lights in January, 2013 and he has sold 20 lights to date, providing clean energy to 100 people. This loan will enable him reach an additional 50 people. He is also a farmer and will reinvest the money he makes into expanding his other business to earn more money for himself, his wife and children.
