A loan of $525 helped a member to buy rice seeds and fertilizer for her farmland.

Choen's Group's story

Choen is 50 years old and living in a rural village of the Prey Chhor district. She is widowed and she has six children. Rice farming is the main source for her family’s income, and she has been farming rice on a one-hectare area of farmland for about 25 years. The current business earns her family the daily income of about 38,000 KHR and she is able to save about 25,000 KHR each day. This is the first loan for Choen’s group of two members. Now she is leading her group to apply for a loan of 1,000,000 KHR each. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy rice seeds and fertilizer for her farmland. She hopes this loan will enable her to grow her rice healthfully and fruitfully so as to make a better living.
