A loan of $725 helped a member to buy fertilizer and pesticides for her farmland.

Sreyyas' Group's story

A widow living in a rural village located in the Dambae district of Kampong Cham province, Sreyyas is 60 years old and has two children. To make a living, she grows cassava on four hectares of farmland in her local area. She has been in this business for 12 years, earning about 55,000 KHR per day but is able to save about 28,000 KHR each day.

Sreyyas’s group consists of two female members. She has been with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund, for two loan cycles. The past loans have helped her improve her livelihood. She is now leading her group to apply for a loan of 1,400,000 KHR each. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy fertilizer and pesticides for her farmland, and will use a portion of it to spend on labor fees. She hopes this loan will enable her to get a high yield from her cassava business.
