A loan of $275 helped to buy axle boxes, coils, shafts, and solder.

Arnulfo's story

Arnulfo, 54, lives in the southwestern part of the city with his wife and two children, ages 15 and 16.

He has an appliance shop in his house where he does preventive maintenance and repairs small appliances such as blenders, irons, stoves, fans, and radios. He has 12 years of experience with which he has earned valued customers, mainly among his neighbors in the area.

His goals for the future are to have a bigger locale, expand his business, and give his children a quality education so they have the potential for success of which he and his wife dream.

Currently he's applying for a Kiva loan, his first financing from Fundación Mario Santo Domingo. He'll use it to buy axle boxes, coils, shafts, and solder in bulk to use as supplies in his workshop and sell to his customers when they need it.

His biggest challenge is having enough working capital to make his purchases, and this is what he'll achieve with his Kiva loan.
