A loan of $1,000 helped to buy two boxes of silk thread and hammock handles.

María Maxima's story

María is 49 years old, and married with 3 children. For more than 30 years, she has been making hammocks for sale, as her sister taught her to do. Today, she makes her hammocks out of silk and Poliseda (a silken polyester fiber). Before that she worked as farm labor with her parents, but for the past 24 years, she has dedicated all of her time to the creation of hammocks, with which she helps her husband with the household expenses. She makes 3 hammocks per week. Of her three children, just one is in school and the two women have already gotten married.

She acquires the materials to make her hammocks in the closest town, and to get there, she takes a bus, a trip which she makes every 15 days with her son.

The loan which she is asking from Fundación Campo is to buy two boxes of silk thread and hammock handles. She makes hammocks to order and also for general sales, and with this loan, she will be able to sell more. Her goal is to establish a fixed sales locale where she can sell directly to her customers.
