A loan of $600 helped to buy sewing supplies.

Moraima's story

Moraima, 50, is married living with her 24-year-old daughter and little grandson in her own house. Moraima’s work consists in making clothes for women, men and children. To do so, she must have extreme patience to make the items her customers request and frequently to make items she designs herself. She sells some of them in the small space she has set aside at home.

She’s been in this work for a year and has always worked alone. She states that she’s never had a complaint from her customers because she’s found the way to please them so they’ll leave happy. What she likes about her work is that she can include into her clothing designs what most inspires her and besides she feels very useful. Her goal is to build a larger sewing workshop and set aside space exclusively to sell the items she creates.

On this occasion, she’ll request 1,500 soles. She’s thankful for the financial support she’ll get so she can make her plans reality. She will use the requested amount to buy a certain amount of fabric, thread, elastic, buttons, zippers and other accessories needed to make items of clothing she’ll put up for sale.
