A loan of $1,425 helped a member to buy gasoline for her water pumping.

Phat's Group's story

Living in a wooden house located in Kampong Cham province’s Tbaung Khmum district, Phat is now 53 years old and married. She has seven children, two of whom are dependents and still in school. Phat and her husband are farmers who grow rice as their main business to support the family and they supplement the family’s income by working for others for a fee. Having been in the business for 33 years, they are able to make daily earnings of 17,000 KHR and manage to save about 8,000 KHR each day.

This is the seventh loan for Phat with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund. Now she is leading her group to ask for a loan. As the leader, she is going to use her portion to buy gasoline for her water pumping and use a portion of it to spend on labor fees in plowing the field. She hopes this loan will enable her to extend her rice plantation and also grow her crops healthily to make more income to improve her living condition.
