Even though Efua grew up in poverty without an education, this has not stopped her from fulfilling her dream of achieving a better life for her and her family. Currently, Efua is an entrepreneur. She sells maize and garden eggs in Enyan Apaa (near Cape Coast). Her business enterprise has grown substantially since she began 20 years ago. She uses the income from her business to help her husband raise their six children.
Efua has identified that there are growing demands among consumers for her product. Nevertheless she is unable to meet their needs due to limited inventory. Thus she aims to use her loan to purchase more maize and garden eggs to sell. With the new profits from her expanded business, Efua wants to buck the trend by ensuring that all her children will be given the opportunity to further distance their family from poverty.
