A loan of $1,200 helped to buy natural products.

Eluteria's story

Eluteria lives in the colony of Cerro de la Silla (an emblematic hill in the city of Monterrey), which a residential area with difficult access and steep sloping streets. She sells tamales. a typical food in México, and also natural products. "Doña Lute", as she is known among her neighbors, is well-known for making the best tamales in the area and for being a very hard worker. Lute prepares her tamales on the weekends and delivers them mainly on Saturday and Sunday, since sales volume is high. Many of her tamales are sold on a "fía" basis (an expression meaning that she will give a couple of days credit before collecting payment). From Monday to Thursday Lute travels throughout the streets of her community, visiting her customers to collect payment. This is no problem for her since what she wants is to get ahead and cover her family's needs.

"People do not have money because they don't like to work. If they live in poverty it is because they do not want to make any effort. There is money out there to be had, and the one who works lacks nothing." This is what she told us during some of the interviews with Credituyo. Also, every month Lute travels to a nearby town to offer her natural products to relatives and friends living there.

She takes care of two grandchildren after her daughter passed away. Eluteria plans to use the loan to buy more natural products, specifically food supplements and alternative medicines for illnesses such as diabetes, high blood pressure, cholesterol, etc. She wants to expand her market because of the high demand, but unfortunately she does not have the capital to maintain a good inventory. Eluteria's goal is to have a well-established store in the center of the city. She wants to give her grandchildren a better future since they do not have their mother with them and they want to get a university degree.
