A loan of $1,175 helped to buy clay and firewood.

Milena's story

Milena, 31 years old, is hard-working. She lives with her parents and seven siblings, whom she supports in the home that she has lived in since she was born. Milena is single but this does not bother her as she can help her siblings and can do well in life. "That's the most important thing", she says. Milena studies to be a teacher at a well-known university and there she qualified for a career in education. She now works in a government education programme as a supervisor in the area. She is responsible for watching over a literary programme for the elderly and adults who did not complete their education. Milena very much likes this noble mission and she is happy to help people overcome difficulties. However, like others living in the area, Milena also makes a living making bricks with her brother. Together they make 29,000 bricks but they cannot do this full-time so this is very few bricks. Now, however, Milena and her brother are thinking of hiring labourers so as to produce more bricks. This will be Milena's fifth loan with Kiva and she is grateful for all your support as the loan will help her to achieve her objectives. Milena promises to make her repayments on time.

Milena will invest the 3000 Nuevo Soles in buying clay and firewood to make bricks.
