A loan of $10,000 helped to implement display advertising on his online music magazine and for marketing.

Raymond's story

Raymond’s business, mxdwn.com, began as a senior project in college. At the time, it was a simple idea about trying to build a website that leveraged connections in music information to build a resource for fans of music.

“In the beginning, it was as much about me learning how to program in dynamic programming languages such as PHP as it was about writing,” says Raymond. He and his friends quickly realized they were far more excited when focusing the site on the new music that thrilled them. After just a couple of years, what started as a fun project grew and grew until it became a thoroughly respected and trusted entity. The further they expanded their efforts, the more this simple hobby became something that needed to grow into a fully functional business. Now this project is one of the most known and respected online music magazines running today, keeping pace and growing in a highly competitive marketplace.

Raymond describes his work by saying, “It is the most exciting and rewarding work I've ever done. Every day I challenge myself to find the best music in the world and to bring that information to as many people as humanly possible.” He sees the future of his company evolving, as he says he aims “to take what we do so well and help focus this energy, drive and notoriety to harness that awareness and become one of the strongest revenue drivers for the music industry on the internet.”

Raymond is seeking a $10,000 loan for his website.
