A loan of $500 helped purchase of seedlings, manure, and payment of labour.

Lum Rophina's story

Born in 1961, Rophina is married and has nine children. She is proud that she and her husband were married in a traditional ceremony, to which she attributes their good luck that they were blessed with so many children. Unfortunately, her husband is now seriously ill and Rophina must care for him and her children alone.

With her previous loans from GHAPE, Rophina succeeded in growing and providing her community with cassava and ndjamadjama (huckleberry leaves, a popular green vegetable). Given this loan, she plans to buy fresh manure, seedlings, and fertilizers to expand and improve her farming. She also intends to buy piglets to fatten and sell for food. She plans to repay the entire loan in 24 months.
