A loan of $275 helped to purchase more maize to cook for sale.

Ama's story

Even though Ama grew up in poverty without an education, this has not stopped her from fulfilling her dream of achieving a better life for her and her family. Currently, Ama is an entrepreneur. She sells cooked food in Enyan Apaa (near Cape Coast). Her business enterprise has grown substantially since she began two years ago. She uses the income from her business to help her husband raise their four children.

Ama has identified that there are growing demands among consumers for her product. Nevertheless, she is unable to meet their needs due to limited inventory capacity. Therefore, she aims to use her loan to purchase more maize to cook for sale. With the new profits from her expanded business, Ama wants to buck the trend by ensuring that all her children will be given the opportunity to further distance their family from poverty.
