Jose Cupertino

A loan of $1,300 helped to buy fertilizer and pay for labor for the upkeep of his coffee plantation.

Jose Cupertino's story

Don Jose is 62 years old. He is married, has 4 children and lives in a village in the borough of Intibuca. He has been growing coffee for 20 years, produces coffee at Oro and sells it at the local market. He has been able to work his land thanks to a number of different loans. At this time, he requests a loan of $1300; he was granted and paid back 6 loans through ODEF, which helped him greatly improve the coffee plantation. He intends to use the new loan to fertilize the coffee plants and to care for the plantation so he can continue to have a good output. His goal is to learn new techniques to grow coffee so he can obtain more revenue and thus help pay for his children's education.
