A loan of $2,000 helped to buy seeds to boost his vegetable and fruit production.

Evaristo's story

Evaristo is married and has 5 school-age children (2 boys and 3 girls). He lives in his own home which has a living room and a bedroom but no kitchen or bathroom. The living room is made of adobe and has a dirt floor but no ceiling - just a corrugated iron roof. The house is in the Coripata district of the Trinidad Pampa de los Yungas canton in La Paz.

At the moment his work involves growing vegetables and fruit, in a rudimentary fashion, on a plot of land which he owns. His wife also grows fruit and cleans farms. He sells his produce in the area where he lives and in an area full of dirt and dust in the city of La Paz. He and his wife work seven days a week and both contribute to the household expenses: utility bills, food and clothing, and their children's schooling. The loan he is applying for will be used to buy seeds and to boost his level of production, whilst ensuring that this is done in a cleaner way. Evaristo's dream is to have working capital and some tools to enable him to boost his level of production and thereby improve his quality of life. This is the first time that he has applied for a loan with IMPRO and KIVA.
