Constance's story

Constance lives in Kampala, Uganda. She is single with four children, and all of them go to school. She takes care of additional family members (her sister's children). She sells charcoal at the market on a wholesale and retail basis. She has been in business for the last 10 years. She also gets additional income from operating a barber shop. She works six days a week.

She has requested a loan of 2,200,000 Uganda shillings from MCDT – SACCO to buy bags of charcoal. Her major business challenges are transportation and seasonality. Her goals and aspirations are to build a house and also buy a van for transporting charcoal from the village. She lives in a rented house, and the family has access to electricity but does not have access to piped water. Her monthly expenses include school fees and rent.
