A loan of $1,075 helped to buy wood and soil.

José Luis's story

The members of the Bankito Rio Bravo communal bank meet every 15 days in Rio Bravo de Montecristi. The city is known for its great diversity of typical products like the straw hats that are known within and outside of the country.

This is where Jose, age 20, lives. He is single, and he lives in his parents’ house. He has been in the communal bank since it began. He likes it because the loans help him to get ahead and forge a better future.

Jose is a very hard-working young man. He likes to get ahead through his work. He makes bricks (material used for building houses) with his father. They are really hoping for this loan because they are a little under-financed for making bricks, and they have a big order to deliver.

Thanks to the loan they will be able to buy the needed material and complete this order. They deliver their products to their customers in a small truck that they have. This is how they get ahead honorably.

This loan is to buy wood and soil to make their products.

His dream is to buy a bigger truck to take their products.
