A loan of $600 helped to buy more plastics to sell.

Rose's story

Rose is a single mother with six children and all her children go to school. She doesn’t take care of additional family members.

She has a business, selling plastic cups and basins. She generates additional income from selling used clothes. She has been in this business for nine years.

Rose has applied for a loan of UGX 1,500,000 (Uganda shillings) from Micro Credit for Development and Transformation SACCO (MCDT SACCO) to buy more plastic cups and basins. She works seven days out of every week and moves door-to-door, selling plastics. Her major business challenges include the rainy season which hinders her movements, and thieves.

She is aspiring to get permanent business premises and to build rental rooms. She resides in her own house and the family has access to electricity, but not piped water. Her monthly expenses include school fees and feeding the family.
