Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

A loan of $1,500 helped a member to buy steel accessories and peanuts for making peanut butter.

Kuwirirana Group's story

This is 39-year-old Phillip from Harare. He is married with three children, two attending school. He also cares for his nephew. Phillip manufactures peanut-butter-making machines and also is in the peanut-butter-making business. The business has been in operation for 19 years. He says the main challenges faced are frequent power cuts and stiff competition with other sellers. Phillip has requested a loan of $500 to buy steel accessories and peanuts for making peanut butter. He says the extra income generated as a result of this loan will allow him to increase the family's cash flow and quality of life. In the future, Phillip plans to have his own metal fabrication workshop.
