Hadjah's story

A married mother of two children, both of whom go to school, Hadjah also takes care of additional family members (old parents). She resides in her own house, and the family has access to electricity and piped water. Her monthly expenses includes school fees and utility bills.

For eight years Hadjah has been selling charcoal, and generates additional income from rental houses. She works seven days a week and sells on a retail basis only. Her major business challenges include transportation and seasonality. She has applied for a loan of 2,000,000/= to buy more bags of charcoal.

Hadjah aspires to own a delivery van to ease transportation difficulties and also hopes to educate her children up to university level.
