A loan of $400 helped to buy fertilizers.

John's story

John is a farmer, aged 45 years, and married with seven children. John is a disabled person with only one active hand. This forced him to drop out of school at an early age due to stigmatization by the other able-bodied pupils, and he decided to concentrate on coffee farming.

Despite his disability, John has been able to grow two hectares of coffee, which has enabled him to meet his home needs, pay school fees for his children, and put up a permanent residential house.

His main challenge is that the plantation is now big, and he cannot effectively look after it; he now wants money for buying fertilizers and hiring labor to cultivate it.
