Mahatma Gandhi Self Help Group's story

Mahatma Gandhi Self Help Group consists of eleven women from a village in Odisha. They formed a group to help themselves to share their problems and to solve their problems among them. One of them is Lili, who was selected as their President of Mahatma Gandhi Self Help Group. The lady in the front, sitting second from the right-hand side in the photo is Lili. Lili is 34 years old and is staying with her husband and her three children. Her children are in schooling. She hopes to see them as officers in the public sector unit. Lili has few acres of land in her village, and she is utilizing her land in vegetable and paddy cultivation. Her husband is supporting her in this activity. Lili has requested a loan of 275,000 INR, which will help her to purchase the required resources for sugarcane cultivation. She says a portion of the loan amount will help her to purchase sugarcane plants, fertilizers, and insecticides, and to cover operational expenses like labour charges.
