Diakalia's story

Mr.Diakalia is 35-years old and lives with his spouse in the sub-prefecture of Ouelessebougou in the Koulikoro region of Mali. Diakalia did not have the chance to attend school. At a very early age, he became interested in income-generating activities, especially the manufacture and sale of poultry feed. He learned this business from his maternal uncle, who was once a rancher and merchant of poultry feed. In order to satisfy his growing customer base, Diakalia decided to collaborate with Soro Yiriwaso. He is on his first individual loan that will enable him to buy the products necessary to manufacture himself poultry feed and to resell it retail in Ouelessebougou and neighboring villages for cash and credit to a mix of customers. Diakalia hopes to earn an average monthly profit of 40,000 FCFA, part of which will be used to repay the loan and the remainder will be reinvested in the business.
