A loan of $1,200 helped to buy a new batch of books, magazines, school and office supplies for her bookstore.

Karine's story

Karine opened her store in 1998. She started by renting a small market stall in Kapan where she sold office and school supplies. After a lot of hard work Karine was able to purchase her own store in 2011. Every month Karine travels to Yerevan to purchase batches of books, office and school supplies, as well as photo frames and stuffed toys which she transports to Kapan for resale in her store. She pays particular attention to have new books by popular authors, so her store has a good reputation and many regular clients in Kapan and surrounding towns and villages of the Syunik region. Karine is 50 years old and single. She was born and lives in Kapan together with her mother and brother. Karin's mother is retired and after work Karine also takes care of her sick mother.

Karine is applying for a loan of 500,000 Armenian drahm to finance a whole sale purchase of book, magazines and office supplies for her book store.
