Fighting for a better future? We need your help.

Creating a more equitable world takes a lot of time and energy, but at Kiva we’re in it for the long haul. 100% of money lent on Kiva goes to funding loans. That means we rely on donations from people like you to make this work possible. For a limited time, if you donate $35 or more, a $25 bonus will be added to your account (you’ll get an email once it’s there).

Ashraq's story

Ashraq is a 30-year-old single woman who lives in poor conditions in Taiz, Yemen. She is an employer who intends to start up a small education institute. She said that her business will be offered to educate people who are young to develop their qualification. The intention behind this institute is not only to get money, but to help youth who like to learn develop their skills. She is the breadwinner for her family where she strives to provide household expenses. She intends to furnish her institute but unfortunately, the amount she saved is insufficient to buy what she needs. Therefore, she requested a youth loan of 170,000 Yemeni rials (YER) from Al-Amal Microfinance Bank to help her cover the cost of purchasing new furniture.
