A loan of $600 helped to hire workers from the area.

Eknar's story

Eknar is 24 years old, single and lives with his parents. He makes a living from transporting passengers between districts in his area, but also from consistent agricultural work in the production of organic cacao and coffee. On a day to day basis he travels a number of the main routes in his area, transporting passengers he often becomes friendly with and who make his work very heartwarming.

At times, the rain is his primary inconvenience as the roads he circles are not paved, making his work a bit complicated. As the years pass, he hopes to keep working with his characteristic motivation to achieve his goals, starting with acquiring his own vehicle as well as agricultural land he can rent out and earn more income.

This is his first loan with Kiva and he feels very grateful for the opportunity provided as it allows him to grow financially. With the 1,500 Peruvian nuevos soles he will hire workers from the area to harvest organic cacao, hoping to recuperate the capital invested 8 months ago.
