Sandra Patricia's story

Sandra is 35 years old and lives with her husband and three children in the municipality of Soledad. There they have their own business, through which she makes shoes and trains others in this art. Among her lines of products are purses, shoes, and leather goods in general. Her experience dates to 10 years ago, when various mothers who were heads of the home, with different business knowledge, united their knowledge and decided to put forth alternative products in order to generate income for the home. She does her work using leather as a base material, and she develops designs for shoes and purses through methods in manuals.

She makes her sales in diverse stores and has regular customers from diverse localities. She obtains from them 50% of the cost beforehand in order to start the process, and she receives the other 50% when she completes the product. Sandra makes her purchases in a shoe shop and she develops samples, which she exhibits directly to her customers or through catalogs. The goal of the business is to improve the distribution strategy, in order to gain new and worthwhile customers.

Currently, she is applying for a Kiva loan, the first financing that the Fundacion Mario Sato Domingo is making. She will use the loan to buy leather and supplies in bulk, which will allow Sandra to expand her catalog and sell much more, the reason for success for this new investment.
