A loan of $1,175 helped to hire workers.

Obdulia's story

Obdulia is 41-years-old, she is marred to Agripino, and she has 6 kids with whom she lives in a house built on a wooden base in the urban zone of her neighborhood. Starting very early everyday she goes to her field to check the growth of the crops. For the past 20 years she has been conscientious in tending to her cocoa plants. The comforting part of her work is that she is able to help with the household expenses due to her crops. One thing that makes her work more difficult is the rainy season. She is not able to see far in advance, much less do the weeding that her production requires. Over time she wants to have a large production, harvesting more cocoa plants so that she can have a good income. For the moment her first priority is to maintain a healthy and productive land. This is her second loan from Kiva and she is grateful for the opportunity provided. She hopes to continue counting on the confidence provided. With the 3000 new soles she will hire workers in order to complete the weeding of the current cocoa harvest.
