A loan of $1,525 helped to buy perfume, creams, cosmetics, pants, blouses and other items of clothing.

Gina Marlene's story

Every two weeks, the members of the 4 de Agosto community bank meet in Andrés de Vera parish, in the city of Portoviejo. Portoviejo is the capital of Manabí and has been known for many years as the City of the Royal Tamarind Trees.

This is where Gina lives. Gina is 37 years old, married, and has three children who are 16, 14 and 11 years old. They are all attending school. Gina's husband is a security guard.

Gina is a great mother and wife who, in order to make her own income so that she can help her husband with their children's educational expenses, works selling both catalog clothing and Avon, Esika and Yanbal products (beauty products, cosmetics, perfumes and ladies' accessories). She works every day and makes her sales door to door, though some of her most trusted customers come to her home where she keeps her merchandise. She leaves her products with her customers on credit and collects payment every weekend. She has been in this business for more than six years and it is going very well.

Gina is requesting this loan to buy perfume, creams, cosmetics, pants, blouses and other items of clothing. She has been a member of her community bank for more than two years and likes it because the repayments are easy.

Gina's dream is to have premises where she can sell her clothing and other products.
