A loan of $400 helped to buy organic fertiliser.

Edith's story

Forty-four year old Edith is married to Wilfred. Together, they have five children, though only three still at home, in the house that Edith inherited from her parents, and where she has lived since she was born. Edith makes a living sowing peas, potatoes and corn. After harvesting them she takes them to the country's capital city, to sell her products to sellers at the central market. There in Lima, people pay a higher price for Edith's vegetables. Edith travels to the city at least three times a week and so she hopes to buy a truck in order to reduce her travelling costs. Edith very much likes agriculture and particularly enjoys sowing the peas because, with just a little investment, she calmly tells us that she makes a good profit in very little time. This is Edith's fifth loan from Kiva and she is very happy with the financial support that she is receiving to continue with her business. She promises to make her repayments on time.

Edith will invest the 1000 Nuevo Soles in buying organic fertliser to strengthen her crops.
