HUANCAYO, Peru / Grocery Store

A loan of $200 helped to buy food products such as rice, sugar, and beverages.

Celia's story

Celia, 49, is married to Pedro and has three children. She takes care of them in the house she inherited from her parents.

She has a lot of experience in sales, 23 years. Currently this has become her main source of income and she has set up a small restaurant in the same place where she sells. She has the help of her husband and two of her children.

In her store she has all types of basic staples, from sweets to groceries. In the beginning she used to sell in a stand; now she sells in her house. Her husband and children also contribute significantly to the business because it's family-owned and a great opportunity. It's located near the bus stop of a transportation company whose drivers are her potential customers. She also sells meat in the same store.

Celia will invest the loan in buying staple products such as rice, sugar, and beverages.
