A loan of $400 helped to buy hammers, bits, saws, and other materials.

Juan Elber's story

Juan, or Juancito as he's known affectionately, is a 60-year-old man with the vitality and desire to strive of a 20-year-old young man. He lives in the warm and welcoming city of Ica, where there's a lot of agriculture and many tourist attractions to visit. Juan has a lot of charisma, and he shares that happiness with everyone around him. He always does his best in spite of adversity.

Juan works around 10 hours every day as a bricklayer. Sometimes he can work a bit more depending on the size of the structure. Juan believes he's getting ahead because he's responsible and especially because he wants to improve every day.

Juan's very grateful to the Kiva lenders because thanks to their help he'll be able to buy tools such as bits, hammers, a saw, and others that are necessary to be able to do his job, because currently he has to rent them.

This way he'll be able to improve his income and strive to make his biggest dream a reality: "To be a master builder and be able to improve his quality of life."
