A loan of $575 helped to buy fertilizers for her African palm farm.

Doris's story

Doris is 28 years old, married, and has four children. She lives in the city of Tela, Atlantida.

Four years ago, she decided to cultivate African palms in order to extract the oil. This product is sold to brokers at the market and she is paid a profitable amount. She also engages in other activities, such as tailoring, as a way of generating extra income for her household.

Doris has worked with four loans from ODEF, which has enabled her to invest in her business and keep it active. She is now requesting her fifth loan in the amount of 11,000 HNL so that she can buy fertilizers for maintaining her palm farm. Doris says that this investment will increase her production and result in more income. Her goal is to use the profits she earns to build a house of various materials. She currently lives in an adobe house that is starting to fall apart.
