Phon's Group's story

Phon, an elderly, 56-year-old, widowed mother of five children, resides in EK Phnom district, Battambang province. Phon is a local farmer who does rice cropping and peanut growing, as her main source of income. She has been with this business for 30 years.

Including this loan cycle, Phon is a second-time borrower with VisionFund (Kiva’s partner). Since the past loan, she has been able to provide daily, decent food for her family, and maintain her business. Now, she forms a group of three to apply for a new loan. As the group leader, she will use her loan portion to buy rice seed and potash, and to pay the fee for plowing her land. She highly believes that she can sustain her living and make her business grow well.
