A loan of $625 helped a member to buy fertilizer and pesticides for her farmland.

Moern's Group's story

A citizen from a rural area located in the Moung Russey district where rice farming is a common way to earn a living, Moern is aged 55 years and married. To support the family, she and her husband have struggled to feed her six children by farming rice on three-hectare farmland and working for others for a fee. Out of her six children, one is dependent and still in school. Having been in the business for 12 years, the current business earns her approximately 30,000 KHR per day. Moern has been with Kiva’s partner, VisionFund, for five cycles and she completely paid back the loan, while her group member is just with VisionFund for this cycle. Now she is leading her group to ask for a loan. As the leader, Moern will use her portion to buy fertilizer and pesticides for her farmland and use a portion of it to spend for gasoline for water pumping. She hopes this loan will enable her to earn more crop yield so as to make a better living and keep her child in school.
