A loan of $400 helped to buy school supplies and uniforms for her children.

Maria Teresa's story

Maria lives in Ica, a city that has a very warm and inviting climate throughout the entire year. Various crops are grown in this area and there are several tourist attractions that people can visit, such as Huacahina Lake. Maria became a single mother after her husband abandoned her. She strives each day to provide her two children with a decent life and a great deal of love despite the difficult times she has endured.

Maria works each day by renting out a motorcycle taxi, which she was able to purchase after much effort. Thanks to the rental income she earns, she is able to pay for her family’s expenses. Maria believes she is moving forward because of her two greatest reasons for wanting to succeed – her two children.

She is extremely grateful to the Kiva lenders. Thanks to the assistance they have provided, Maria will be able to buy uniforms for her children and supplies that they need for school. The loan will provide her children with the items they need for their studies. Maria continues to strive toward fulfilling her greatest wish of giving her children the chance to pursue a profession and having a larger business in her house.
