A loan of $775 helped to invest in working capital and stock her store with products such as coffee sachets, rice, shampoo, eggs, tomatoes, bread, milk, oil, beans and cuajada.

Claudia Nelly's story

32-year-old Claudia Nelly is married and has two dependent children who are 13 years old and 1 year old. She comes from El Sauce, in the north of the country. In her spare time, Claudia Nelly enjoys spending quality time with her children and enjoying typical regional foods such as 'mango en miel'. Unfortunately, owing to a lack of financial resources, she was unable to study for a degree at university. She would have liked to have studied nursing. Thanks to her spirit and desire to get ahead in life, Claudia Nelly runs a 'pulperia' which is located in her home. A 'pulperia' is a small store which sells food products in small quantities such as sachets of coffee, rice, shampoo, eggs, tomatoes, bread, milk, oil, beans and cuajada. Claudia Nelly works 12 hours a day in her business, selling her products. Her aim for this loan is to invest in working capital and stock her store by purchasing food products so that, in the not-so-distant future she can earn better income. Claudia Nelly is grateful for the help that Kiva lenders give to people with limited resources in poor countries such as Nicaragua as it provides them with decent sources of work.
