A loan of $600 helped to purchase medications.

Bakary's story

Bakary is 27 years old, married and the father of 2 children. He lives with his spouse in North Hérémakono, one of the neighborhoods of the town of Bougouni (the third administrative region in the republic of Mali.) After training in healthcare, Bakary quickly immersed himself into the purchase and sale of pharmaceutical products, which he has done now for over 10 years. With so much experience in this industry, Bakary has established a solid reputation. He is on his first loan, which he will use to purchase 3 containers of anti-malaria medications, 2 containers of medications for respiratory ailments, 3 containers of antibiotics, and 10 liters of alcohol. Bakary procures his supplies mainly in Bamako (the capital of Mali.) Bakary's sales are both in cash and credit in various health centers in the town of Bougouni and surrounding areas, and his customer base is widely varied. With this loan, he hopes to earn a monthly profit of 50,000 francs CFA. Once he has earned this profit, Bakary plans to provide for his family's expenses, to pay off the interest on his loan, and to invest the rest in his business.
