Ama is divorced and has an only child. Even though she did not receive any formal education, Ama is a successful businesswoman. She sells fried and smoked fish in Esissamkrom (near Cape Coast). She has been actively involved in this business for about seven years. As the sole breadwinner in the family, Ama uses her income to provide for the entire family.
Ama will use the loan to purchase increased amounts of fish to smoke and fry, thus aiding her to improve her overall sales. With the new profits from her expanded business, Ama plans to further diversify the type of products that she sells, hence adapting to changing customer preferences.
