A loan of $1,925 helped to buy 15 sheep.

Ahmad's story

Ahmad is 41 years old and a married man, who has two children. He is an IDP and lives with his family in Bilasuvar IDP Settlement. He breeds sheep for wool, and to sell to local butchers for meat. Ahmad has more than 10 years of experience in this field. His wife is a housekeeper. He receives 80 AZN financial support from government monthly (as an IDP), but this is too low to cover family needs.

Ahmad usually buys lambs, raises and fattens them in 4-5 months, and resells them for a profitable price in the local livestock bazaar. His monthly income from this activity is 130 AZN. People use meat in everyday national dishes, such as pilau and dolma, and always use yoghurt sauce. Mutton is considered very healthy and is also present in everyday life. Wool is very useful for blankets and bed mattresses, made by local women.

This is the main financial income in his family. Ahmad applied for a loan of 1,500 AZN, which he will use to purchase 15 sheep. This will be his third loan, and he has a good client history.
