A loan of $300 helped to buy beehives for honey production.

Moses's story

Moses lives in Butere, a small town in Kakamega county. Kakamega county is located in Western Kenya, close to the Ugandan border. It contains the only tropical rain forest in Kenya, and the variety of the flora in the region makes it well suited for beekeeping. It has one of the highest rural population densities in the world (in some areas, close to 600 people per square kilometer), which may contribute to the region's high poverty rates.

Moses is married, and has three children. He and his wife both farm, and they are currently growing maize on their land. He is excited to start beekeeping because it is a profitable activity that does not require much investment, and he is looking forward to working with Honey Care because he trusts the Hive Technicians to visit his farm regularly and do good work repairing the hives and harvesting honey.

This is Moses' first loan, and he plans to use the income generated from his hives to help pay school fees for his sister's children. In the future, Moses hopes to become a businessman.
