Bockarie Juliana's Group's story

Salone Microfinance Trust (SMT) is very pleased to present to you this group of teachers from Kenema, a city in eastern Sierra Leone. They have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva.org to apply for a loan of 9,400,000 SLL for the entire team in order to meet their immediate and most pressing financial challenges. At the end of each month, their school’s bursar is directly responsible for doing the deductions and making the repayments for the loan on their behalf.

Bockarie is the featured leader of this group of teachers. The 58-year-old is a native of Jajoima, in eastern Sierra Leone. He is married to a trader and the couple has 6 children who are attending primary school. Bockarie has been a school teacher for 38 years now. He has requested for this loan in order to buy house building materials – iron corrugated zincs, sand, nails, cements, rods, etc. for the construction of a house.
