Pictured here are teachers of a primary school located in Kenama, a city in eastern Sierra Leone. This group of teachers have come to SMT, a partner of Kiva.org based in Makeni, northern Sierra Leone to requested a loan of 6,500,000 Sierra Leonean Leones. With the help of this loan, they can meet their immediate and most pressing financial needs and at the end of each month, their school’s bursar can easily repay on their behalf out of their salaries.
Ansumana is their featured leader. He is 40-years-old. He is married to a housewife and the couple has 5 children – 2 in secondary school and 3 in primary school. Ansumana has been a school teacher for 10 years now. He has requested this loan in order to buy house building materials – iron corrugated zincs, sand, nails, cements, iron rods, etc. for the construction for a dwelling house.
