Diana's story

Maame O. sells fante kenkey to restaurants and individuals to retail. This is a local food prepared from maize. She cooks the kenkey per the demands of these restaurants and individuals.

At certain times she is unable to provide the quantity demanded. When asked, on a visit to her kitchen, why she could not provide, she said, "The price of a bag of maize is very expensive and I cannot afford to buy it, making me not cook when the quantity demanded is high." She is seeking a loan of $700 from Kiva.
