Magdalena Del Carmen's story

47-year-old Magdalena del Carmen is the mother of three children and comes from a town in the south-east of Chinandega. It is a very productive town as it is home to one of the largest sugar refineries in the country.

Magdalena is a micro businesswoman whose business is buying and selling general merchandise such as new clothing for adults, teens and children; underwear; backpacks and other items that her customers order. Magdalena started her business some years ago with her own capital which she earned through years of hard work. Her intention is to get her children ahead in life as she is a single mother and the only source of support for her children. Her biggest dream is to continue working hard so that she can make the income she needs to be able to refurbish her home.
