A loan of $400 helped to buy vegetables, pulses and meat.

Edy's story

Edy, 39, is an entrepreneur who lives with her two children in the house she inherited five years ago. She is a courageous, single mother who enjoys working hard to provide her children with a good education and a healthy diet. In view of the need for a grocery store in her neighborhood, she opened one in her house two years ago and learned to satisfy the needs of the locals. She starts work very early in the morning and offers, in addition to the non-perishable goods, items such as meat, vegetables, green grains and pulses. "My food does not go bad because I have customers who buy most of my vegetables every day, and the meat sells even more quickly.", she says.

This is her first KIVA loan and she has learned to invest in her business responsibly and efficiently. She is committed to paying back the loan on time. Edy will use the 1,000 PEN to buy vegetables, pulses and meat because this is what her customers consume most.
