A loan of $1,375 helped to buy cement, wrought iron and sand, among other items.

Yolanda's story

Yolanda, 55, is a leader. She lives in the company of her husband and together they have two children whom they care for in the house they inherited some years ago. Yolanda has a hardware store; equipped and stocked. According to what she says, she is doing very well with her business since she opens its doors everyday without a break. But since she is a hard-working woman she is not only dedicated to this. She also sells food on Sundays, from a place in her home.

For his part, her husband makes a living by renting out heavy machinery to state institutions and private constructors, who give him monthly payment. With this he pays for the university studies of his children, for whom he wishes to provide a good education.

Right now Yolanda wants to stock up her store with all the materials that are possible. "There are days when large buyers arrive to take cement and other materials in abundance and there isn't enough," she says. Yolanda will invest the 3500 soles to purchase sand, cement, wrought iron, and other merchandise to stock up her hardware store.
